General

This describes the primary sections and areas that are present on all pages and posts by default. Some sections can be hidden, disabled, unused, or left blank, making them difficult (or impossible) to see when you visit the site.

1 – Header

The site header contains a single black menu bar, at the top of the site header, and displays the site title and tagline for your site. To configure these visit the Settings -> General section of the admin panel.

Menu Bars

The header actually contains 2 horizontal menu bars that can be used for site navigation menus and social icons, but it’s best to use one at a time. Navigation links are created and managed in the Appearances -> Menus section of the admin panel.

By default, a single black menu bar with a home link is displayed at the top of the site header when no menus are selected for Header Menu (Upper) and Header Menu (Lower).

To configure links in the top menu bar, create a new menu and assign it to the Header Menu (Upper) theme location.

To configure links to display below the header, assign a menu to the Header Menu (Lower) theme location.

Social icons are managed in Standard -> Social section of the admin panel.

Header Image & Logo

The header image & logo area is located between the upper and lower menu bars and can be configured in both the Appearances -> Headers and the Standard -> Presentation admin panel sections.

Widget Area

Widgets can be configured for the header in the Appearances -> Widgets section of the admin panel, but not all widgets will fit and look good in this space. For ideal results, use the 468 Ad widget, the Google Custom Search widget, or the native Search widget.

2 – Content

This section will show page or post content.

If you are on the index page, which is usually the front page of your site, it will show a list of blog posts. If you are on a single page, like the About page for example, it will only show the content you added when you edited the About page in the Pages section of the admin panel. If you are on a single post, this page will show the post content and the comments for the post by default.

3 – Sidebar

This area is reserved for native WordPress widgets, Standard widgets, or 3rd party widgets downloaded from the Plugin Repository.

To configure the sidebar go to Appearances -> Widgets in the admin panel.

4 – Footer

Menu

To configure links in the footer menu bar, assign a menu to the Footer Menu theme location in the Appearances -> Menus section of the admin panel.

Widget Areas

Three widget areas are available in the footer, although they are not visible by default. To configure them go to the Appearances -> Widgets section of the admin panel.
